lol how about this one from Whitesnake, think the words fit great:

Here I go again on my own
Going down the only road I've ever known
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
And I've made up my mind, I ain't waisting no more time
So here I go again

hehehe, btw whoever mentioned Dream Theater... you have good taste

Suprisingly, as underground and little known most of these groups are, a large amount of them are on myspace.com, for those who wish to sample before they purchase.

has anyone else besides me noticed how many gamers like metal?

It's really weird. almost every gamer I've met listens to Tool, which is weird, because i grew out of that a long time ago.

perhaps it's a cultural thing. Metal often has themes of alienation and angst, which probably ties in with the stereotypical gamer not getting out much.

no offense guys, just trying to explain this occurence off the top of my head.

Oh, and Loverboy is always good... j/k

Hmmm, lets chuck a few different bands and artists into this mix. This list is composed of entirely British music, (with the exception of Feeder's bassist, Taka Hirose being, funnily enough, Japanese,) For me, I listen to things such as the following:

Ash: Burn Baby Burn - a must for elemelee farming, not just budding pyros
Ash: Orpheus - the same, really fires up the adrenaline
Arctic Monkeys: Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor. Another energy burner.
Kaiser Chiefs: I predict a Riot: For charging griffons and Leeeeeeroy Jeeeenkinsss moments
Franz Ferdinand: The Fallen - 'Some say he's a troubled boy, just because he likes to destroy,' what more can I say?
Feeder: Buck Rogers and Just a Day. I bought Feeder's recent albums on the strength of these tracks. I got pwnt lol

Plenty more I could mention, but I'd be here all day if i did.

But of course, when all else fails and hope is lost:

Jonny Cash: Ring of Fire, the ultimate musical depression cure

I never liked Tool. Although, I never realy liked any modern mainstream metal - and I no longer listen to the radio - ever. They rarly play good crap like floyd, zeplin, metallica (not the new shit), ect., and they NEVER play any of the truly worthwhile music - the gothic/black metal underground.

Put simply, nearly everything you will hear on the radio is absolute shit.

Personally, I listen to a lot of epic metal while playing GW (though sometimes Dead Can Dance is used for a more mystic feel). It just fits. Namely Blind Guardian, Luca Turilli, Xandria, Nightwish, Within Temptation, and Iced Earth.

Some suggestions?

Blind Guardian:
"Into the Storm"
"Battlefield"
"Ashes to Ashes"
Iced Earth
"Dragon Child"
"Dante's Inferno"
Nightwish
"The Kinslayer"
"Planet Hell"
"Beauty of the Beast"
Xandria
"Fight Me"
"India"
"Ravenheart"
Luca Turilli
"Black Dragon"
"I'm Alive"
"The Ancient Forest of Elves"
"Demonheart"
Within Temptation
"Deciever of Fools"
"Dark Wings"
"Angels"
"Stand My Ground"
Dead Can Dance
"Rakim"
"The Snake & The Moon"

Trance radio, anywhere I can find it. Something about that music that gets me in the "zone" for some long-haul farming. I can lose hours that way.
